Chat Room Acronyms, Old & New (Part Two)

Here are more chat room acronyms and abbreviations you may or may not know!

If you are going to give your view about something, it's quite good etiquette to say somewhere FWIW- for what it's worth. It's better to be humble and perhaps even a little self-deprecating while chatting online, otherwise you may get a reputation for being opinionated, an expert on everything, a know it all, or even boorish and ill-mannered! That won't do at all- the main purpose of chat rooms is to have friendly fun.

At the end of a game, as someone wins, they will usually get a WTG! Comment from other players and or the CM (chat room moderator) or CH (Chat Host). It stands for way to go!... An acknowledgement of the win and the delivery of congratulations. It could also have something else added, depending on the particular online Bingo site, 20BB. This stands for 20 Bingo Bucks, a form of bonus currency that can be used at the site. BBs can be used in games, but cannot themselves be cashed in, so they are a form of Bingo credit.

Sometimes PC and IT techy (Technical) talk crops up in chat rooms... usually because someone's got a problem and is looking for advice. ISP in these circumstances stands for Internet Service provider. That is the company that connects you to the Internet and the World Wide Web. Examples are AOL, Wanadoo, BT, or Virgin.

RH or room-hopping, is the practice of rapidly moving between chat rooms. It has other names, not as nice as RH, and is generally frowned upon. That's because it's far better to stay in a chat room for an entire game, or number of games, so as to get to know the other players, create a friendly ambiance, and get yourself known and knowing others. Flitting about like a mad Butterfly will just irritate other players, and might lead to you being blanked for a while (no-one talks to you) or getting a slapped wrist from the CM or CH!  However that's not to say that if you find yourself in a room with conversations that you don't want to be part of, you can't bow out and leave, but do it gracefully and give an explanation. "Sorry guys going to be AFK for a while- the technical nature of the chat at the moment is something that's over my head! LOL!" Of course if someone is being offensive or winding you or others up in the chat room, then contact the CM/CH and let them deal with it. That's what they're there for!
