So you’re either going out to a live land-based bingo event, or you’re just about to have a session on line. What are you planning to wear? I asked my tame Bingo Players and distilled their replies here...
For live, land-based Bingo in a Bingo Hall, then it may depend on whether the whole evening is Bingo, or whether there are other forms of entertainment throughout the afternoon/evening. Some venues have Bingo as the sole event (although there are variations on types of games, and breaks in the Bingo to play the slot machines etc.) while others have dancing, live acts, even speed-dating! So if you’re likely to be trying to impress on the dance-floor or across a speed-dating table, then you’ll be dressing up to look ultra-smart and eye-catching. If it’s a straight Bingo venue, then there’s less pressure to be the wow factor fashion-wise, and many people will dress in clothes they feel comfortable with. That’s not to say you’ll dress down of course- you’ll be meeting or making friends and so want to look reasonably smart!
A couple of the people I spoke to said that they would always wear an article of clothing that acts for them as a sort of lucky charm. They had got into a habit of wearing it, and one told me the very time she forgot it and left it at home, she missed out on a £3000 jackpot win by one number! The same person said to me that when she played online Bingo, she also wore her lucky article of clothing.
So what do we wear in the comfort of our own homes when playing Bingo online? That can depend on the time of day or night. Some people told me that they liked to log on and play Bingo after their shower or bath before bed, and so were in their PJs or dressing gown/robe. One lady I spoke to, who was a London city slicker, was so into Bingo online, that most evenings, the first thing she did upon coming into her flat, was kick off her heels, pour herself a drink, and sit down at the computer in her two-piece navy pin-stripe trouser suit, and play a few games of Bingo!
For others, they didn’t care what they were wearing when playing online. There’s no pressure to dress because no-one is going to see you. Wear a pink velour tracksuit top and bottom, fancy dress, or even your birthday suit! Whatever you want- it’s you home, it’s your game!
Whatever your attire, good luck in your Bingo!
