How's your PC?

My PC got a virus the other day and it took my son the best part of a day to fix it, during which time I couldn’t play online bingo. I think it may have been a site I visited to look at cheap electrical goods. I didn’t realise that the site was based in China, and very dodgy, until after I had downloaded their “incredible offers”. I should have known that Blu-Ray player for £19.99 was too good to be true! It’s the first time for ages that my anti-virus software had been breached, so I assumed that the site must have generated a relatively new virus, one that virus-killing software hadn’t yet taken on board.

I was looking around Bingo news sites the other day, and came across a report that said that online Bingo players who had new computers and/or fast internet connections got more enjoyment out of playing than those who didn’t. I guess that might have been obvious. There’s nothing more frustrating than having a game of Bingo interrupted because you’ve lost the link to your internet server, or finding that the Bingo programme “hangs” or is too slow. So when you haven’t got these problems, and the programme is nippy, then it stands to reason you’ll be happier! Most bingo sites have taken these issues into account, and if you are in a game when you lose your computer connection, it still continues to play as if you were still in the room.

One of the essential upgrades for online Bingo playing must be your screen-size and the graphics card. It’s a pain having to squint at a tiny screen, and some graphics cards struggle to represent all the colours and moving images many online Bingo sites have these days. This is particularly true for slot games. As the cost of technology keeps on dropping, and it pays to keep your eyes peeled for special offers on PCs, and broadband connections. Use the internet to search for bargains- there’s a lot of competition for your money in a recession, so it pays to virtual-shop around! Staying abreast of the latest technology is well worth it, especially if you are a regular player. Online Bingo is an evolving game, but does not evolve as rapidly as computer technology.

I don’t think there’s as much need to upgrade your soundcard- even basic soundcards can usually handle online Bingo sounds with ease. You should always have some kind of anti-virus programme that is regularly updated. While Bingo sites are unlikely to ever have any viruses, you need to be safe when visiting other sites, lest you get a virus like me and have to suspend your online Bingo playing until it’s fixed!
